Born of Mars has been a term that has bothered me a few days now. In researching more of the Jester Prince's namesake, it emerged that his name meant Born of Mars and if the Jester Prince could be of a Red Celestial bloodline, it follows that there could be many others.

So, I immediately searched the Moduli Dialogue Archives and tried to find any mention of Martians or Red Celestials. The short of it is this: nothing. Nary a mention of Mars people or invaders from a foreign planet. But, the discovery of the Jester Prince was all subtext, discovered by me. Moduli is well known for hiding his deeper messages between the lines.

I would like to present this quotation for your consideration:

The Digitalis dwell among us. They look just like everything else, but, they have a double life in a way that some things never could. One of my favorite examples of this, perhaps because it is vital and volatile, is the 'home'. I'm sure you all have now just had a very different association with that word. Think of the 'home' in a Christmas carol. Now imagine the 'home' in a horror movie. The Digitalis, much like a home, is a near empty vessel, where there are 2 or more perfectly viable meanings it can take on, dependent upon context, utilization and history.

To quickly sum up what Moduli has encoded here, the Digitalis are not a brand of word or metaphor. Words and metaphors do not 'dwell' as he says. Dwell was used to express the reality that the Digitalis are substantial. They look like everything else... he says, indicating that this substance does not have to be anthropomorphic and could embody anything they so choose.

Moduli also uses the metaphor of 'home'. While, on its face, it's easy to interpret this as an example, its much more. He uses home to mean home in a grander sense: Blue Celestial. He pivots from the warm loving place that is our home (the home of a Christmas carol) and then leaps into the metaphor of the home of a horror movie. A place where many invisible and not-so-invisible creatures dwell, seeking to catch us and torture or kill us. Blue Celestial seems like an accommodating sphere of warmth and light, but, in fact, Moduli is warning that it has been invaded.

I hesitate to interpret from this quote what the intention of the Digitalis is. My inclination is to assume they are well intended, however. Judging from what I know of the Jester Prince, he does not carry malice in his actions. If anything, he seems like a messianic figure, to my mind. But, none of that proves the intentions of his kind, only the existence.
